Overview
Meet Your Peers

Throughout this learning tool, you will hear from community members who share their experiences as mid-career workers with disabilities. These people were selected based on survey and interview responses sent to us. We then conducted virtual interviews in an open format that allowed our interviewees to share as little or as much as they wanted. After hearing their stories, we knew we wanted their experiences to guide the development of this resource.

Let us introduce them to you:

Catherine Smorang

Catherine is a woman in her 50s with a college degree in business administration. She is completely blind and is currently the coordinator at a retail shop.

Randy Luba

Randy is a man in his 50s with a certificate in Information Technology. He lives with significant health challenges. He currently works in the food services industry.

Samantha Rayburn-Trubyk

Samantha is in her 30s and is a human resources professional. She has a bachelor’s degree and lives with dwarfism.

Deanna Ng

Deanna is in her 30s and has a bachelor’s degree. She currently works for the Canadian Museum of Human Rights. Deanna has a vision impairment and mental health issues.
